Canton Community Health Fund, Inc Invests Record $63,400 in Community & Scholarships

2024 Community Partners, Dr. Diters and Pay It Forward Scholars Announced

Canton Community Health Fund, Inc. announced the distribution of a record $63,400 in nonprofit grants and scholarship awards to Community Partners and Scholars committed to ‘Contributing to the Health, Safety &; Well-Being of the Canton Community.

Welcome New Community Partners

Summit Adaptive Sports: Working with Collinsville Canoe and Kayak, SAS will provide specially adapted kayak and paddle board lessons and equipment designed to foster a healthy lifestyle for individuals with disabilities that build life skills, self-esteem and positive experiences.

Canton Senior & Social Services: Despite significant budget pressure, CSSS will continue to be the social safety net for all Canton citizens facing economic, social and/or mental health challenges.

Critical Baseline Community Partners

SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center of Canton: CT’s only licensed therapy riding center for children, teens and adults with disabilities, SHTRCC will host a new pilot program, ‘Special Needs Caregiver Support with Equine Therapy’ to address the challenges of both special needs people and their caregivers.

Canton Fire & EMS Department: The purchase of a Kenwood VP8000 Tri-Band radio will expand the communication capabilities of Incident Command by creating a ‘universal radio’ from which to manage multiple mutual aid partners, other emergency organizations and resources, greatly enhancing the safety lifeline to both victims and first responders.

Canton Police Department: Additional automated external defibrillator (AED), capability will be added to police vehicles to enhance first response at medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents and other 911-calls.

Healing Meals Community Project: Provides curated organic meals to Canton residents facing temporary health crises.

FAVARH: With the goal of helping individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to achieve their personal best, FAVARH will expand the scope and frequency of its daily activities, including: horticulture, music and art therapy.

CCHF Community Partners Who Also Support Canton Senior & Social Services

Canton Food Bank: In conjunction with Bristol Farm Market and other partnerships, CFB’s ‘Fresh Initiative’ increases availability of fruit, produce and other health-centric options to enhance food-security for eligible clients.

Canton Emergency Fuel Bank: A year-round support for eligible residents requiring assistance for unprecedented heating and electric expenses.

Focus on Canton: FOC provides a wide range of temporary financial assistance for extraordinary utility, housing, medical and other critical expenses for eligible residents.

CCHF Also Celebrates Canton High School’s Graduating Seniors

Canton High School (CHS) Substance-Free Graduation Event. An annual tradition celebrating graduates in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
