2021 – Canton Community Health Fund Distributes over $30,000 in Grants & Scholarships: Award Winners Honored for Their Work to Enhance Health & Well-Being of the Canton Community

Canton Community Health Fund(CCHF) announced the distribution of over $30,000 in grants to nonprofits that benefit the health and well-being of Canton’s residents and scholarships to individuals pursuing careers in a health-related field.

During the height of the COVID pandemic, CCHF’s award recipients used their talents and devotion to the Canton community to positively impact the lives of our neighbors, friends and family. As these individuals and organizations move forward in the coming year, we are proud to fund their endeavors as they, and we all, move into the future with purpose, determination and promise.

The following individuals each received $1,000 Dr. Diter’s Memorial Scholarships to pursue careers in health-related fields:

The following grants, from $1,000 up to $5,000, were awarded to a diverse group of non-profit organizations which will continue to make a significant impact on Canton’s residents:

 

 

Canton Food Bank: Purchase groceries to supplement donated food.

Canton Emergency Fuel Bank:Assist in payment of heating/electric expenses.

Focus on Canton:Provide temporary assistance for payment of utilities, rent, medical bills.

SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center:Riding lessons for individuals with disabilities.

Arc of Farmington Valley:Purchase 2 high efficiency laundry units to support FAVARH store.

Gifts of Love: Purchase food for food pantry/weekend backpack program, for Canton residents.

Special Olympics:Purchase 20 softball helmets and help with transportation to events, for Canton residents.

Canton High School:Sponsor Substance Free graduation party.
